hi! i'm megan + i am the owner/maker behind homebody hub!

i am based in the beautiful gettysburg, pa + make alllll of my products single-handedly in my kitchen (aka my "studio").

(+ i can't forget to mention the sweetest "quality control agent," aka my business partner AKA my 12-year-old black lab, dylan!)

i started homebody hub back in 2022 when i was just 20 years old + what started as a hobby has quickly evolved into a passion for eco-friendly home fragrance!

all of our products here at homebody hub are crafted with non-toxic formulas, eco-conscious packaging, + a handmade approach so that you can fragrance your home worry-free and make a difference.

wax melts vs. candles 🕯️

an age-old debate + one i find myself having to bring back up every time someone asks "when are you going to start selling candles?" 👀

+ the answer is:

i'm not sure if i ever will.

not because there's anything WRONG with candles. there are SO many sustainable options out there as far as candles go. BUT . . .

as a personal preference (+ what i've found to be the case with SO many people that have come across my products), candles just aren't as preferred or as accessible to those with smaller budgets.

my goal with homebody hub has always been to make sustainable home fragrance options accessible to ALL, regardless of income.

+ it just so happens that excluding this one particular product (though one of the BIGGEST products in the home fragrance industry) allows me to keep my prices affordable + create products that are better suited for those with children + pets in the home and the preference to NOT have an exposed flame in the house 🫣

while i won't totally rule out adding candles to our lineup ONE DAY, i stick by our wax melts + so do a ton of other people 😌

she looked shocked when i told her we actually never ended up going to college.

i could feel her disappointment from my place across the table, but when i told her we owned our own business, her eyes lit up like a christmas tree.

we always did doubt ourselves . . .

she took a sip from her mug and looked up at me with those big green eyes of hers.

“are we finally happy?”

i could feel my cheeks warm at the thought.

“we really are. we finally did it, kid.” 🤍

BUT 🤚🏻 that can be said of ALL of us, even us here at homebody hq!

the fact of the matter is that there is no right or wrong way to fragrance your home. after all, it is YOUR home. we all like to use whatever scents we like in the rooms we spend the most time in and there's nothing wrong with that!

but there IS an *effective* way to fragrance your home so that you can be sure to get the most out of your space and the products that you use, whether you're using wax melts, room sprays, reed diffusers, etc.

for example, when you're wanting to create a cozy atmosphere in the living room, you wouldn't necessarily wanna use something super energizing like citrus, eucalyptus, etc. you WOULD however wanna focus on fragrance notes that are more warm in nature, like amber, vanilla, etc. to really bring out those cozy vibes 😌

+ that was precisely the case for me when i made the difficult decision to scrap my college dreams and focus on work.

my passion for interior design (fueled primarily by the videos from the great @zoesugg) nearly led me to pursue the subject in college. but with the rising costs of education, i told myself i'd take a year off and focus on work so that i could save up.

before i knew it, i was getting wrapped up in the retail world, the chance of pursing my passion just a distant memory now.

but what happened during those 3 years between my hs graduation and starting homebody hub was pivotal in inspiring me to do what i'm doing today.

i also just recently got myself a new planner to *hopefully* get myself more organized in the new year but i never seem to actually use them, so we'll see 😅

i can't wait to show you what's in store for the warmer months! (even though i'm already planning for fall + winter 2025 too 😂 my christmas decorations are still up, so what do you expect? that and it's peak winter at the moment 😌☃️)

i remember the self doubt 💭

the thoughts racing through my head when i first began this journey that told me my business could never make a difference in an industry filled with low quality ingredients, toxins, wasteful packaging, etc.

after all, how could i as ONE person solve a problem that's been going on for YEARS?

but then i remembered:

i started this business as a way to inspire people to make the switch to more sustainable and ethical home fragrance products. + the fact that so many have already done JUST that since our launch in 2022 is MIND boggling to me! 🥹

whether your poison is candles, wax melts, room sprays, reed diffusers, car diffusers, etc., there are so many small business options out there that will help you make a positive switch in mother nature's favor 🌿

because it truly does take a village to inspire change, and i am so incredibly honored to be a part of it 🤍

an ode to 2024 ✨

the year of changes that came with the toughest goodbyes + the most exciting hellos . . .

i collaborated with @chesterthedutchie (my first EVER social media collaboration 👀) to promote the vegan/cruelty-free element of homebody hub 🐰

i said goodbye to katie at @kip_and_idle_home as she closed the doors to her store. my first ever physical location that i sold my products in and the first time i've made an exclusive fragrance collection 🥹 (AND the first time i've connected with a small business owner who ALSO happened to have launched their business at almost the exact same time as i did! 😭)

i expanded my product line to include room sprays, reed diffusers, + car diffusers. a move that has made a HUGE difference in getting sustainable home fragrance into the hands of sooooo many more people! 😌

i took the plunge and made my first EVER wax melt advent calendars that were just SO fun to make! 🎄🎁 so festive + cute and UGH! definitely plan to bring them back next year 👀

i joined the @fiddlestix_mercantile family and have seen so much love + success in only a short time frame! 🥹 (that and i can never seem to keep our car diffusers stocked 😂 don't worry, i have a game plan lol)

i gave a previously disappointing vendor show another go and nearly QUADRUPLED my earnings! 🥹 so many new faces + connections and though i had to cancel my second (and last) vendor show of the 2024 season due to being sick, it 100% made up for it 😌
